Equinor has a clear ambition to be a leading company in the energy transition. This leadership must also be reflected in how we communicate and how we use our sponsorships
Our sponsorship portfolio focuses on supporting those searching for better; better technology, better innovation, and better solutions for the energy transition.
We want to support people who come up with new solutions to one of our time's biggest challenges: producing enough energy for the world's population while reducing emissions.
This means that our long-term partnership tied to talent development within football and cross-country skiing will no longer be part of our portfolio, once the partnership period ends in 2025.
Who does Equinor want to sponsor?
Through our sponsorships, we want to support young people and help trigger their curiosity, creativity, and competence in science and technology. We will contribute to new ways of learning about climate and energy challenges, and how to use renewable energy sources.
We also want to support students and other innovative minds who use creativity and knowledge to seek the solutions we and the world need.
We believe it is part of our social mission to contribute to stimulating talent development in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). STEM subjects are important to maintain Norway's competitiveness in the future.
Every year, tens of thousands of children experience mathematics, engineering, science, and technology in practice at science centers and other scientific and technological competitions across Norway. Hopefully, these visits lead to some of them choosing a career in STEM subjects in the future.
What do we hope to achieve with our sponsorships?
We want to create interest in and enthusiasm for STEM subjects. For example, through science centers or science- and technology-driven competitions.
Each year, initiatives like these let tens of thousands of children experience mathematics, science and technology in practice across Norway. And hopefully, some of these children will choose a career in STEM.
But it’s not all about the future, we also want to support the here and now. Now, perhaps more than ever, we need people who make an effort and dare to think big and new; and people who find solutions to today's challenges.
Whether it’s startups or scientists, we want to help support the dreamers - those who never give up. In a world with great challenges, we need wise heads who dare to think smart, big, and new.
