Searching for better

We have to change. Society has to change. And the world must change. That’s what it will take to achieve success in the energy transition the world desperately needs. And there’s no time to waste if we also want to be the leading company in this transition, which is our goal. Does that mean we face an uphill climb in the years to come? Certainly, but this is the most important task we face.

And we can’t do this alone. Along the way, we will need both support and critical eyes. We are also totally dependent on new ideas and approaches. That’s why we want to invite you into some of the issues and dilemmas facing us right now. Maybe you will get answers to some of your questions, maybe you will see things in a new perspective, and maybe you will still totally disagree with us. And that's okay. But we also want to show you what we're up to. Because we have actually started, and we’re not giving up. This applies to each and every one of our 23,000 employees, including those you will meet here.

Thank you for your time, and enjoy your reading!

The Energy Transition

We say we want to be a leading company in the energy transition, but how is it actually going?

Oil and gas

Oil and gas activities are the largest sources of greenhouse gas emissions in Norway. Yet we continue to explore for oil and gas. Why?

Electrification

Some say electrification is a waste of both money and electricity. In our view, it is the most effective measure to reduce emissions from our production of oil and gas. Why do we think that?

Renewables

Still, 99,6% of the energy we produce comes from oil and gas. How can we then claim that we take renewable energy seriously?

Carbon capture and storage

We have been talking about carbon capture and storage for a while. But has it been too much talk and not enough action?

Ripple effects

We often say we want to create positive ripple effects in local communities. But what are we actually doing about it?
