US oil and gas

The US is a core country in Equinor’s global upstream portfolio, contributing roughly half of all production outside of Norway.

Over more than two decades, we have been a safe and reliable energy partner for the US, with a portfolio of offshore assets in the Gulf of America and a premium onshore position in the Marcellus Shale.

We’re a top-five producer in the Gulf

The Gulf of America is one of the world’s most prolific offshore energy basins, where we have shaped a portfolio of high-value assets with a low carbon intensity of production.

Our robust portfolio is poised to deliver strong positive cash flow through 2030. We have partnered with some of the leading global operators for offshore development who share our zero-harm vision on safety, our drive for technical excellence, and our ambition to contribute towards a lower-carbon future.

Supplying natural gas to meet critical energy needs

Our Marcellus position in the Appalachian Basin is the largest natural gas asset in Equinor’s global portfolio, delivering safe, reliable, and carbon-efficient energy to major American markets.

Equinor has been active in onshore energy development in the US since 2009. Today, we are one of the largest natural gas producers in the US, working with premier operating partners to safely and responsibly meet growing energy demand while creating shared value for our communities.

Our commitment to safe & responsible development

Oil and gas development transforms communities, bringing jobs and economic opportunity. But these activities can also bring challenges.

We work closely with our operating partners and stakeholders in the local community to proactively address risks and seek solutions to challenges. Protecting the health and safety of our people, the community around us, and the environment is always our first priority.
