"We will strengthen and renew Statoil's position on the Norwegian continental shelf, whilst establishing and enhancing robust international growth." This was chief executive Helge Lund's message today, 23 August, at the group's press conference ahead of the Offshore Northern Seas (ONS) exhibition and conference in Stavanger.
Mr Lund perceives Statoil to be a strong company, both industrially and financially - with considerable opportunities and manageable challenges. He emphasises that the organisation comprises able and enthusiastic people who are more than ready to tackle new challenges.
"Statoil has a position to maintain, and we will strengthen our global competitiveness by developing our employees," he observes.
The chief executive believes that three eras have characterised the group over the past 30 years or so, with a transition from establishment and commercialisation to privatisation. His aim is to develop Statoil into a globally competitive company and a unique employer.
Statoil's position as a preferred partner, both nationally and internationally, is to be maintained and further enhanced.
"Statoil has a robust strategy and an organisation with a high level of expertise and integrity," he comments. "We have a strong basis for the further development of the group."
