Production has resumed from Statoil’s Åsgard B platform in the Norwegian Sea, which had to shut down on 19 January because of damage to the flare system.
Plans call for the platform to be back in full production during the course of today, 11 February.
Toiling about 100 metres above the main deck, the repair team ensured that the leak in the flare line was properly sealed.
“Local weather conditions have been very difficult, with low temperatures and high winds,” reports production technology supervisor Svein Fredrik Fredriksen on the gas floater.
“Nevertheless, the various groups of skilled workers brought in from Linjebygg made an exceptional commitment.”
Normal daily output from Åsgard B totals some 38 million cubic metres of export gas and 125 000 barrels of condensate (light oil).
