The Kristin field operated by Statoil in the Norwegian Sea and ExxonMobil’s Sigyn development in the North Sea have been allocated by the Norwegian authorities to gas sales contracts today, 28 June.
Running from 2002 to 2016, these deliveries will total 33.5 billion cubic metres of gas. Sigyn will deliver 2.3 billion cubic metres in the gas contract years 2002 and 2003, with Kristin supplying the rest from the gas contract year 2005 until the end of the delivery period. (A gas contract year runs from 1 October one year to 1 October the following year).
"A gas allocation for Kristin is very gratifying,” says Øyvind Bratsberg, production vice president for the field.
He adds that the allocation will be important for the future development of the Halten Bank South area, which also includes fields such as Lavrans and Tyrihans.
Statoil aims to submit a plan for development and operation (PDO) of Kristin to the authorities in early August.
Apart from the group, with 46.6 per cent, partners in the field are Petoro 18.9 per cent, Norsk Hydro 12 per cent, ExxonMobil 10.5 per cent, Agip nine per cent and TotalFinaElf three per cent.
Statoil has a 50 per cent interest in Sigyn, with ExxonMobil holding 40 per cent and Hydro 10 per cent. A PDO for this field is also expected soon.
