January 13, 2000, 15:00 CET

The catering contract for Statfjord in the North Sea has been awarded by operator Statoil to Eurest Support Service today (13 January).

Running for five years from 1 April, the assignment will be worth some NOK 580 million over this period depending on the level of field activity. It can be extended for up to three additional five-year periods.

The contract covers administration and services relating to catering and hotel operation as well as procurement of provisions.

Eurest submitted the best overall bid, reports Kåre Røsandhaug, vice president for Statfjord operations.

The company has been responsible for catering on the field since 1995. These services were previously provided under various names.

Catering provision for Statfjord currently covers 650 people on the A, B and C platforms and the Polycrown flotel. The latter is due to leave the field towards the end of the year.
