Equinor awards NOK 700 million Johan Sverdrup contract
Equinor awards a contract for services within insulation, scaffolding and surface treatment (ISO) on the Johan Sverdrup field to Kaefer Energy AS. Awarded under an already existing framework agreement for operations the contract has an estimated value of more than NOK 700 million. This includes both ordinary operations and maintenance work, and work associated with Phase 2 of the project.
Kaefer Energy AS was selected as an ISO supplier based on high-quality performance under the existing framework agreement, combined with their competitiveness. In addition, the supplier has distinguished itself through good HSE work and a clear improvement agenda.
“The ISO disciplines contribute to safer and more efficient operations on our facilities. We look forward to working with Kaefer in the operations phase when the field is scheduled to come on stream in November. Johan Sverdrup will remain on stream for several decades, and the ISO work will be essential to supporting the long-term production horizon,” says Equinor’s senior vice president for operations technology on the Norwegian continental shelf, Kjetil Hove.
In recent years Equinor has established long-term ISO framework agreements for its portfolio on the NCS. Having a long time horizon, the Johan Sverdrup field will be an attractive workplace and contribute positively to new recruitment in the ISO industry.
“The Johan Sverdrup field is an achievement many people can take pride in. Not least the almost thousand suppliers contributing to safe and efficient development. We aim at predictability in our interaction with the suppliers. Lasting through 2030 the framework agreement facilitates this. In addition, the Johan Sverdrup field is a flagship for digitalisation and new technical solutions. We look forward to collaborating on this also within the ISO disciplines,” says Equinor’s chief procurement officer, Peggy Krantz-Underland.
