leading the energy transition with sustainable solutions

Equinor’s commitment to pioneering sustainable energy solutions is reshaping Poland’s energy landscape. Our dedication to innovation and reliability positions us as leaders in Poland’s ambitious journey towards a net-zero future. With over 50 years of experience in the North Sea, Equinor is at the forefront of renewable energy, including offshore wind and solar power, setting new standards for sustainability and efficiency.

Provider of Sustainable Energy Solutions

Poland has set truly ambitious renewable energy goals – notably one third of all electricity generation is set to come from renewable sources by 2030 as well as robust targets for projects within both offshore wind and solar.

Equinor supports these targets with safe, reliable, and sustainable energy solutions. Our strategic investments in wind and solar power, significantly contribute to Poland's renewable energy capacity, powering communities, and supporting the nation's energy transition – fostering energy independence and supporting the transition to sustainable energy sources.

Innovative Technology-Driven Energy Projects

Innovation drives us forward. As a technology-driven energy company, we are at the forefront of employing advanced technologies to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of our energy projects. Our commitment to the development in renewable energy solutions demonstrates our ambition to lead the energy transition, making us a key player in creating a prosperous future for Poland.

Current Activities in Poland

Together with Polenergia, we are developing the BaƂtyk triplets, offshore wind projects with a total capacity of 3 GW—enough to power over 4 million households. These projects play a crucial role in achieving Poland's updated energy strategy, which includes reaching 18 GW of offshore wind power by 2040. This exciting project also includes the design and build of a brand-new operations and maintenance base located in the coastal town of Ɓeba, creating jobs and fostering awareness of the renewable efforts of Equinor in Poland.

We are also building an onshore renewables portfolio through our subsidiaries Wento and BeGreen.

Wento is a Polish multi-tech power producer operating three solar plants and an onshore wind park with a total capacity of ~200 MW. The company has a project pipeline of over 3 GW in Poland, comprising both generation and battery storage opportunities.

BeGreen is a leading Danish solar developer with a large project pipeline in North Europe, including several solar projects in Poland.

These initiatives underscore Equinor’s commitment to integrating into the local market and driving sustainable growth in Poland’s renewable energy sector. Through these partnerships, we are not only supporting Poland's energy transition but also establishing a strong foothold in the local renewable market, enhancing our contribution to the country’s energy security and environmental objectives.

We're also a reliable and long-term natural gas supplier to Poland, delivering approximately 2.4 billion cubic meters of gas annually from the Norwegian Continental Shelf.

A Valued Partnership for Poland's Energy Future

Equinor deeply values collaboration in advancing Poland’s energy transition. We go beyond just energy projects, engaging with local communities, industries, and stakeholders to foster trust and cooperation, driving positive change towards a low-carbon future.

We are committed to empowering our team to deliver impactful solutions tailored to the needs of the communities we serve. Our efforts are exemplified in Ɓeba, where we are constructing a state-of-the-art operations and maintenance base for the BaƂtyk triplets. This facility not only spearheads technological advancements but also serves as a cornerstone for community interaction, particularly through our Heroes of Tomorrow initiative with the Ɓeba Sailing Club. This partnership educates and engages local youth in the benefits and possibilities of wind energy, demonstrating our commitment to both community and environmental stewardship.
