Production resumed on Njord

January 5, 2007, 13:00 CET

Oil production on the Hydro-operated platform Njord was resumed again at around 22:00 hours on Thursday, following a brief shut-down period due to a minor gas leak in a valve.

The platform management shut down production at around 13:30 hours yesterday, following a minor gas leak in a valve on one of the gas injection wells. The leak was quickly brought under control, and the situation was normalized within an hour.

The gas injection well is now closed, to enable the valve to be repaired. However, this does not affect production, which will soon be back at the normal level for Njord - around 25,000 barrels per day.

The Njord field has been developed with a floating steel platform, Njord A, which has an integrated deck with drilling and processing facilities, as well as living quarters. The field is located around 130 kilometers north-west of Kristiansund.
