The Gassled partners have approved an estimated NOK 350-400 million compressor upgrade at Kårstø.
Plans call for project completion by 1 October 2008.
The compressors at the Kårstø processing complex north of Stavanger will be upgraded after a turnaround in 2008 as part of a larger upgrading and re-equipping project there.
The upgrade will allow the complex to send more gas through the Europipe II pipeline to Dornum in Germany. This will happen by increasing the pressure from Kårstø. Regularity and flexibility will also be improved and the complex will operate with greater energy efficiency.
MW Kellogg in London will carry out the detail engineering. The company was also awarded the pre-engineering contract.
Plans call for contract award during 2007. Construction work will begin in late 2007/early 2008 and will take place coincident with regular complex operations.
Statoil is technical service provider for the Kårstø complex which is operated by Gassco and owned by Gassled.
