Interests in three licences covering a total of five blocks have been awarded to Statoil in Britain’s 22nd offshore licensing round today, 14 September.
The group is very satisfied to have secured stakes in all the blocks for which it applied.
This acreage lies west of Shetland and on trend with licence P1026, where Statoil acquired a 30 per cent interest earlier in the year.
Operator ChevronTexaco drilled the Rosebank/Lochnagar well on behalf of the P1026 partners in July and August.
The new licences embrace one covering blocks 213/22, 23 and 28, with the other two covering blocks 205/1 and 213/21 respectively.
Statoil has 30 per cent of the first and second of these awards, with operator ChevronTexaco receiving 40 per cent, OMV 20 per cent and Dong 10 per cent.
ChevronTexaco is also operator for block 213/21 with a 45 per cent interest, while Statoil has received 35 per cent in this licence and Dong 20 per cent.
