February 10, 2004, 09:00 CET

Hydro made its mark at the "E-world - energy & water 2004" fair at Essen this week, both with its exhibition and speakers. This energy congress and product fair has become the most important European meeting place for players in the electricity, gas and renewable energy sectors.

Hydro's presence was most noticeable at the product fair, where there were 380 exhibitors. Visitors to the Hydro Energy stand could enter a competition to win a trip to an oil platform or to the wind park at Havøygavlen.

The conference started for Hydro on Wednesday with a press breakfast where information manager Kama Holte Strand presented the Ormen Lange project. This giant gas field is scheduled to produce gas for England and the Continent from October 2007.

Olav Skalmeraas gave a lecture in the afternoon on Hydro's strategy for sales of gas and electricity. Skalmeraas leads the Gas and Power Marketing unit in Hydro.

Hydrogen congress

"The International German Hydrogen Energy Congress 2004" was held alongside the E-world fair.

There were two speakers from Hydro at this conference also: Vera Ingunn Moe from the unit New Energy presented Hydro's wide range of work on hydrogen, and senior research scientist Sandra Nilsen spoke on regulations, standards and safety in relation to hydrogen.
